GreCon spark detection control consoles monitor the detection of spark alarms and immediately activate countermeasures such as: extinguishing valves, deluge valves, abort gates, or automatic machinery shutdown.
Principle
Multi-microprocessor based modular designed control consoles receive and process signals from the sensors, initiating user-defined countermeasures according to predefined alarm limits. Alarm limits may be set according to frequency of sparks or duration of spark activity. Alarm conditions can trigger extinguishment valves, abort or diverter gates, deluge valves, or initiate the user’s PLC for programmed responses.
The control console is furnished as an IP 55 enclosure with uninterruptible power supply, circuit protection devices, and standby batteries. A large display with graphic capability that displays alarms, number of sparks, extinguishing time, zone identification, date and time. Programmable sparks threshold, time threshold and adjustable extinguishing time. Storage of thousands of events are recorded exactly to the millisecond. Input interface devices monitor water booster pump status, central water flow, and heat tape monitor. Additionally, these devices provide inputs from external sources such as manual switches for system disabling and manual extinguishment abort, or from relay inputs. The system is expandable with two additional extension units to increase zone capacity.
Line modules supervise and control up to 4 channels and offer a variety of customizing options. Microprocessor based modules with automatic system testing for sparks, wire ruptures, and short circuits. Activates extinguishment valve and alarm relay in milliseconds. Activation of 2nd Alarm Relay and extinguishment if spark count or duration thresholds are exceeded. Wiring connection block for spark sensors, extinguishment valves, and water flow switches. Up to ten voltage-free relay contacts per line module to indicate alarm and trouble conditions as well as for machinery shutdown, interlocking circuits or PLC connection.
Line module provides up to 6 valve outputs to activate extinguishing devices from an alarm in up to 4 detection areas. Input interface devices provide up to 6 control signals to disable zone using an access door limit switch, disable extinguishment for maintenance, or extinguish until reset switch.
